Final Stage LET Qualifier

The final stage started out great for me, shooting a strong -5 round placing me in 2nd. It was one of those rounds where there is flow to the game, even though not all shots are the best or not all the shorter putts go in. But I had a chip in and made a long putt, both for birdie. And two of my birdies were within 4ft. So it felt easier. But in a qualifier like this, there are many holes to be played and many shots to hit.

The second round was on another course, the North course. I felt that my ballstriking was good this day as well. Even though I did not have 4 footers for birdie, I still hit it good enough to give myself a good amount of 2m birdie putts. But I struggled on the greens that day, making only a 6footer for birdie, and made too many mistakes in the form of three putts. These greens were not in as good of a condition, and so I struggled to see the line and grain at times because of uneven color on the grass. And sometimes the putts would bump off line.. So both rounds I hit 15 greens, but one day I gained 2,5 shots on the greens, the other I lost 5,25 shots! One round the score was -5, and the other round it was +4. Small margins, big differences in score.

The third round was again on the South course at which I had played so well on the first day. This was a round where there was a mix of good and bad and I ended level par. I hit 13 greens, so fewer than the days before, but putted better (gained 1,25 strokes). Overall, the performance was fairly decent, and it was good to get a good feeling on the greens again after the rough second round.

The fourth round was again on the North course. This day was one of those days where I was not playing my best golf and where I had longer putts for birdie. I also miscalculated the wind a few times leaving myself with more longer putts (30-50ft). In those instances you just try to putt it close to give yourself an easy putt for par. But like the second day I struggled with both distance control and to make the short putts (4-6ft). I hit 14 greens, and those I missed were in the fringe and so I could use my putter. (Except from one hole where I made an up and down from the sand). My one birdie for the day was a 4 footer.

It was very frustrating to miss the cut with one shot, after loosing so many strokes on the greens. But sometimes the margins are with you and sometimes they aren´t. Even though I am very dissapointed and sad with the way the qualifier ended, there are a lot of positives to take with me. The strength of the field this year was very strong as there were several LPGA players competing. So being in the top 25 after three rounds shows that my game has a lot of potential. And although I struggled with my putting two of the 8 rounds, this is an area where I´ve put in a lot of work over the year, and I see big improvements. After working with Denny Lucas for just over 1 month, my ballstriking is a lot more consistent, shown in the high number of greens hit. The top 20 get full status on the LET, whereas players placing 20-50 would compete in getting the best possible category which determines how many LET events they will get into. I was one stroke outside of the top 50, which gives me another category and hence a couple fewer tournaments. My finish in the qualifier means that I´ll play a little bit of both LET and LETAccess events. BUT if I do well in the LET events that I play, this creates opportunities to be able to play even more of them. Really looking forward to all the opportunities 2023 will bring!!
