Growing up
I grew up in Oslo, Norway and started playing golf when I was 6 years old. During my childhood I also did other sports such as cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, tennis, dancing and soccer. It was at the end of elementary school I decided I wanted to pursue golf and I therefore chose to attend NTG-U, a Norwegian sports school where we would work out physically every day. I had so much fun working out every day, as well as being around people that shared the same joy and spirit for sports as I. One of the biggest things I learned is that working out can be as fun as you make it, while making it hard and purposeful. I have definitely brought this with me to this day, as I due to all my fun experiences at NTG-U and at other times with friends, always see being active and working out as something fun no matter how tough it is. For high school I attended WANG School of Sports where I again had the opportunity to work out and practice golf. Highlights of the years were definitely the practice camps to Spain. I also learned how to structure and plan out my own golf practices and workouts which has been pertinent to this day. I play for Oslo Golf Club and have been doing so since I started with golf. My golf coach, Caroline Diethelm, has been with me from the start, and has continued to be my coach till this day.
Other than this, I am a sports fanatic. I love being out in nature and doing physical activity. You will therefore not be surprised to see me out skiing, walking in nature, biking or doing similar activities on my free time with friends and family. Other hobbies and interests are reading a good book, photography, listen to music, food and sleeping.
College Career
After graduating WANG I travelled to Greenville, North Carolina where I have spent the last four years playing varsity sports on the East Carolina University Women´s Golf Team while obtaining a Bachelor´s degree in Finance. College has definitely had a very positive impact on me as a golfer and person. By being a part of the pirate family my game has grown tremendously through great practice facilities, the level of competition I have faced at tournaments, and the different course setups and conditions I have experienced. Also, the college experience itself has been a great learning curve that I have matured and grown greatly from. I have learned leadership through the Leadership Program of the College of Business, and by being on this team. I have learned the importance of giving back by doing community service, which was very unfamiliar to me when I came in as a Freshman. Combing school and golf is challenging, which has taught me a number of things. Countless days with long and tough practices, along with more assignments and exams due in a week than I could count, taught me discipline, structure, planning, being organized, and the importance of time. Through the team, I have travelled to so many cool places during which I have seen and experienced parts of America I never would have. Being a part of Pirate Nation and the Pirate Family has really been a second home to me. Everywhere I have gone people have been friendly, welcoming and helpful. I have also been so incredibly fortunate to meet and connect with a variety of people from other cultures and countries that I will forever be grateful for. Many of these are friendships that I will have for the rest of my life.
